Frequently Asked Questions
1. How soon should we meet with you, how do we save our date and how does payment work?
Depending on the project I reccommend meetings in person, through video call or phone call a week before the photoshoot. For bigger events such as weddings and engagements the time should be extended to 3-4weeks before the event. For paid work I accept cash, check, and paypall. Events equaling $200 or more require a deposit and a signed contract to save the date. Your deposit will be applied toward your total and your balance is not due until the day of your shoot or even once you pick up your digital prints if you want to opt out of the mail out option.
2. Can I provide you with a list of all the photographs that I want?
Yes, you may. I always want to provide photos that are 100% accurate with the vision you may have for your event. However the best photos tend to come from moments that happen naturally.
3. How many images can I expect?
A lot!! I average about 75 images an hour during an event. This is just an average and not a guaranteed amount. I find that in photography 15-25% make it to the editing stage.
4. When can I expect my images?
It is hard to predict the exact time it will take to edit the images. It also greatly depends on the amount of pictures taken during the session. Allow 1-2 weeks for editing and 7-10 days for delivery.
5. I’m interested in getting family pictures done, will you provide us with a CD of all the images?
Sure, but be aware that having prints made at your local drugstore, walmart, shutterfly, or target may be a huge waste of your money. Skin tones will become orange, blacks will not be true black, and images can look green. This is because every compiuter screen is callibrated differently and these vendors do not use high grade printing devices. Simply put, the true to life images you see on my screen will not appear the same when printed. Printing on your own means you are printing at your own risk.
6. Do you do any editing/post processing?
Most photos will be edited for best quality. Touchups are done per request at an additional fee. If something really stands out in a photo in a bad way I will retouch it myself.
7. Do you have a second photographer ?
Not currently. For big events and upon request I can collaborate with another photographer or aspiring second shooter.
8. What is your photographic style?
I tend to lean toward artistic styles in photography. That means I focus on a lot of conceptual work and put a lot of meaning behind each photo. I may do shots where only a small part is focused upon. You can see the style of my photography by going through my portfolio.
9. What kind of events do you shoot?
I shoot anything from personal headshots to weddings to glamour photoshoots and abstract art. Contact me or check out my gallery to see samples of my work.
10. Can you recommend any videographers?
Yes! Once you book your wedding or event with me, I will refer you to an excellent videographer. I can also help you locate other vendors if needed.
11. Where are you located?
I reside in Mission Valley, San Diego CA. Most of my photography is done within the So Cal. area.
12. Do you have a studio?
I Specialize in outdoor photography but can arrange for studio rental in the area. Cost of studio rental varies per hour and location.
13. Why should we hire you and not the large studio that has been in business for 20 years?
The answer is simple. Most studios will say that they have been in business for 10, 20, or even 50 years. These studios employ a large number of photographers. A lot of times, what you see on the the studio’s website is not necessarily what you will get. This is because each photographer that they employ will have a different style. With me, what you see is what you get. I am available 24/7 to discuss any of my client’s needs. Unlike a large studio I can and will provide highly personalized service.
14. What type of equipment do you use?
I use the Canon 60D with varying lenses.
15. Did you take all the images I see on your website?
YES! It wouldn’t make much sense for me to use anyone else’s work. That would be considered stealing and would not represent the work I can deliver. Copyright infringement is illegal and unethical. The type of images you see on my website are the type of images you can expect to see for your own photoshoot.
