My Story

I never thought I would become a photographer...It just sort of happened.

My name is Sara Slavin. Welcome to my digital portfolio. I begun taking pictures early in my high school years; mostly focusing on land and waterscapes. Later I transitioned to close ups and macro photography but it didn’t stop there. I realized that my true passion lies in capturing people. I acquired a job at a local photography studio to learn the art of indoor photography with studio quality lighting setups. I now collaborate with a Studio that provides setting for any of my Studio Shoots! In my spare time I enjoy shooting models, often in extreme situations or embodying abstract ideas.

My first camera was a Nikon Coolpix P90 with a Macro Zoom. Looking back I realize just how amateur my photos looked back then. I now focus mainly on using Canon 60D or 7D and varying lenses. My goal is to improve over the years and maybe one day have my work published in great magazines, books, and maybe even museums. Check out the Portfolio tab to see a sample of my work.

Recently I have been dabbling in modeling which has given me true insight into the mind of my subject. This in turn has created more learning opportunities and has made me a better photographer.
